Storefront Glass Repair & Installation Toronto & GTA

Your storefront is the first thing customers see, and damaged glass sends the wrong message about your business. OhMyGlass provides specialized storefront glass repair and installation for retail and commercial properties across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. We handle everything from single-pane replacements and emergency board-ups to full-facade glass installations. Our team works with all types of commercial glass including tempered, laminated, insulated, and tinted panels, and every installation meets Ontario Building Code requirements for safety glazing in commercial applications.

What Types of Storefront Glass Do We Install?

Storefront glass must meet specific performance requirements for safety, energy efficiency, and appearance. We supply and install all common types.

  • Tempered safety glass - the standard for most storefront applications. Heat-treated to be four to five times stronger than annealed glass and breaks into small, relatively harmless pieces if shattered.
  • Laminated safety glass - two panes bonded with a PVB interlayer that holds fragments in place if the glass is broken, providing enhanced security against forced entry.
  • Insulated glass units (IGUs) - double-pane assemblies with an insulating gas cavity, used where energy performance and interior comfort are priorities.
  • Tinted glass - reduces solar heat gain and glare while maintaining visibility. Available in bronze, grey, green, and blue tones.
  • Low-iron glass - an ultra-clear glass with reduced green tint, used for high-end retail displays where true colour rendering of merchandise is important.

Safety Glass Requirements Under Ontario Building Code

The Ontario Building Code mandates safety glass in several storefront and commercial entrance applications to protect the public. OhMyGlass ensures every commercial installation complies with these requirements. Under OBC Article 9.6.1.4, glass in commercial entrance doors, sidelights wider than 500 mm, and sliding doors at public entrances must be tempered, laminated, or wired safety glass conforming to CAN/CGSB standards. Additionally, transparent glass panels that could be mistaken for a walkway or exit must be marked or protected by barriers.
